Wealthica Review: Features, Pricing, Safety & Alternatives

Last updated:

By Jay Darji — Founder, Unified. Jay builds Unified, a Canadian budgeting app that connects all your bank accounts in one dashboard, and writes every guide on this blog based on building banking software for Canadians.

Wealthica is the best-known Canadian tool for pulling every investment account into one dashboard. This review covers what it does well, what it costs now, how it connects to your accounts, and when another tool is a better fit.

Verdict

Wealthica is the strongest Canadian option for tracking investments across several brokerages. It supports Canadian institutions and account types well and produces capital gains, income, fee and performance reports that most budgeting apps don't have.

It is not a budgeting app. Plans now start at $50/year for three connections, and many Canadian connections use your login credentials. Choose it if your goal is portfolio insight. Choose something else if you want to know where your paycheque goes.

Independent review, verified October 5, 2026. Facts come from Wealthica's own website, pricing, integrations and security pages (listed at the end). We make Unified, a budgeting app mentioned as an alternative. We have no relationship with Wealthica. For a direct head-to-head, see Wealthica vs Unified.

What Is Wealthica?

Wealthica is a Canadian financial aggregation platform founded in 2015, with offices in Montreal and Toronto. It connects to your banks, brokerages and crypto accounts and presents everything as one portfolio and balance sheet. Its homepage claims 20,000+ supported institutions, 100,000+ users, $49B+ in aggregated assets and 500+ crypto exchanges, blockchains and wallets.

It is a tracker, not an investment platform. You cannot buy, sell or move money in Wealthica. It reads your accounts and reports on them. The main experience is on the web, with iOS and Android companion apps.

From wealthica.com/ca-en/pricing, verified October 5, 2026. The page doesn't state the currency, and the Canadian and US pages show the same numbers. Taxes may apply.

Every plan has a 14-day trial, and the Premium section advertises a 60-day money-back guarantee. Add-ons include Google Sheets sync ($5.99/month on Connect, included from Unlimited Connect), Excel sync ($4.19/month) and the Wealthscope plugin ($15.95/month).

What happened to the free plan? Wealthica was free for years. In November 2023 it moved to paid plans and kept a free tier for manual tracking only. The current pricing page lists paid plans only, so if a free account matters to you, check what it includes before signing up. In practice, $75/year (Unlimited Connect) is the realistic price for most investors with more than three institutions.

Investment Tracking

This is where Wealthica stands out. According to its feature pages, it offers:

  • Holdings and transactions across every connected account, with unlimited transaction history.
  • Capital gains report using adjusted cost base (ACB), including currency gains and losses. This is useful for non-registered accounts at tax time.
  • Income, fee and performance reports, which show dividends and interest, what you are paying in fees and how each account is doing.
  • Balance sheet with manual assets (property, private investments) for a full net worth view.
  • Crypto across 500+ exchanges, blockchains and wallets.
  • Family groups, exports to Excel and Google Sheets, and rebalancing through Passiv.

Unlike Monarch Money, which does not support securities listed on Canadian exchanges, Wealthica is built around Canadian brokerages and Canadian account types. For a TSX-heavy portfolio split across a TFSA, RRSP and a margin account, that makes a real difference.

Account Aggregation and Canadian Coverage

Wealthica connects to most Canadian institutions with its own connectors, and it also uses Plaid, Yodlee and Vezgo (for crypto) on Unlimited Connect and above. Its integrations page lists how each one connects:

InstitutionHow it connectsNote
TD (EasyWeb, WebBroker)Login credentialsRequires changing TD's 2FA setting
RBC, BMO InvestorLine, CIBC, Scotia iTRADELogin credentials
National Bank, DesjardinsLogin credentials

Credential-based connections are common in Canada while the federal open banking framework is still being put in place. They work, but they break when banks change their login flows, and they mean a third party holds your encrypted credentials. Our Flinks vs Plaid guide explains how the different connection methods compare.

Is Wealthica Safe?

Based on its security page, Wealthica meets the standard you should expect from an aggregator:

ControlWealthica
Access typeStrictly read-only; cannot move money
AuditSOC 2 Type 2 compliant
EncryptionAES-256 at rest, TLS 1.2 in transit
Stored credentialsEncrypted; Wealthica says employees cannot access them
Two-factor authenticationAvailable
PrivacyPIPEDA, CCPA and GDPR; does not sell data; private mode hides numbers
HostingAWS; region not stated

The main risk to weigh is the credential-based connections described above. Turn on Wealthica's 2FA, use a unique password, and check your bank's terms on sharing login details with third parties. Our banking app security guide lists what to check for any finance app.

Wealthica Alternatives

For investment tracking

  • Sharesight: portfolio and dividend tracking with Canadian pricing in CAD and a free tier; paid plans start at $12/month.
  • Passiv: rebalancing for Canadian brokerages, with a free Community tier and Elite at $99/year.
  • A spreadsheet: free and flexible, but every price and transaction is manual.

For budgeting and net worth

  • Unified (our app): connects Canadian bank, credit card and investment accounts, and focuses on budgets, spending, subscriptions and automatic net worth. $6.99 CAD/month or $69 CAD/year after a 14-day trial. It shows investment balances, not holding-level analytics, so investors often use it alongside Wealthica.
  • Monarch Money: polished budgeting plus investments, but billed in USD, no CAD/USD conversion and no TSX-listed securities.
  • PocketSmith: cash-flow forecasting, billed in USD.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Wealthica worth it?

For Canadians with investments spread across several brokerages, yes. Wealthica's strength is assembling TFSAs, RRSPs and non-registered accounts from different institutions into one portfolio view, with capital gains, income, fee and performance reports. If you mostly want to budget and track spending, it is not designed for that and a budgeting app will serve you better.

How much does Wealthica cost?

Wealthica's pricing page lists four plans: Connect at $50 per year (up to three Canadian institution connections), Unlimited Connect at $75 per year, Premium at $150 per year and Prestige at $250 per year. Monthly billing is also available. Every plan has a 14-day trial. The page does not state the currency.

Is Wealthica free?

Wealthica introduced a free tier for manual tracking in November 2023, but its current pricing page lists paid plans only, starting at $50 per year. Its sign-up flow still says 'Sign Up Free', so check the pricing page for what a free account includes today.

Is Wealthica safe?

Wealthica states it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, strictly read-only, encrypts data with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 in transit, encrypts stored credentials so employees cannot access them, offers two-factor authentication, and does not sell data. Many Canadian connections use your bank or brokerage login credentials rather than OAuth, so enable 2FA and use a unique password.

Does Wealthica work with Wealthsimple and Questrade?

Yes, both connect through OAuth according to Wealthica's integrations page. Its Wealthsimple listing notes that Wealthsimple Trade is not supported, so check the integrations page for the account types you hold.

Does Wealthica do budgeting?

It has a basic budgeting tool with categories and per-category goals, but budgeting is a secondary feature. Wealthica is built around investments and net worth. For day-to-day budgeting, people often pair it with a dedicated budgeting app.

What is the best Wealthica alternative in Canada?

For investment reporting, Sharesight (priced in CAD, with a free tier) and Passiv (portfolio rebalancing) are the closest. For budgeting and net worth across Canadian bank accounts, Unified ($6.99 CAD per month or $69 per year after a 14-day trial) is the better fit. Monarch Money combines both but bills in USD and does not support TSX-listed securities.
